Wyoming Footballs Passing Offense Can Svoboda And Inexperienced Receivers Elevate The Unit

Wyoming Football's Passing Offense: Can Svoboda and Inexperienced Receivers Elevate the Unit?

The Quarterback Situation

Junior quarterback Sean Chambers has plenty of experience and threw for 2,315 yards last season.

However, Chambers also threw nine interceptions and averaged under 6.5 yards per attempt.

Sophomore quarterback Levi Williams is expected to challenge Chambers for the starting spot.

The Wide Receiver Situation

Wyoming lost its top three receivers from last season, including All-Mountain West performer Isaiah Neyor.

The Cowboys will need to rely on a group of inexperienced receivers led by sophomore Joshua Cobbs and junior Wyatt Wieland.

Cobbs had 18 catches for 226 yards last season, while Wieland had 9 catches for 166 yards.

The Outlook for the Passing Offense

The Cowboys' passing offense is likely to be a work in progress in 2023.

Chambers will need to improve his accuracy and Williams will need to show that he is ready to take over as the starter.

The wide receivers will also need to step up and produce.

  • If the Cowboys can get consistent quarterback play and their receivers can make plays, the passing offense could be a strength in 2023.
  • However, if the Cowboys struggle to find a reliable quarterback and the receivers don't produce, the passing offense could be a liability.
