Chipotle Appoints Scott Boatwright as Interim CEO
Transition Announced Amidst Leadership Shake-up
Board of Directors Selects Seasoned Executive
New York, NY - Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) has announced the appointment of its Chief Operating Officer, Scott Boatwright, as interim chief executive officer. This move comes as a result of the recent departure of CEO Brian Niccol. The decision was made by the company's board of directors, who believe that Boatwright's extensive experience with Chipotle makes him the ideal candidate to guide the company during this transition period.
Boatwright has been with Chipotle for seven years, holding various leadership positions within the organization. Prior to his role as COO, he served as SVP of Restaurant Operations and SVP of Food Safety. Boatwright is known for his strong leadership skills and deep understanding of Chipotle's operations and culture. He is also credited with leading the company's efforts to enhance food safety and improve customer service.
The board of directors expressed confidence in Boatwright's ability to guide Chipotle through this period of change. "Scott is a proven leader with a deep understanding of our business," said Michael Nagle, Chairman of the Board. "We are confident that he will be able to effectively manage the company's operations and continue to drive our growth while we conduct our search for a permanent CEO."
The search for a permanent CEO is expected to begin immediately. The board of directors has formed a committee to identify and evaluate potential candidates who can lead Chipotle into its next chapter.
