Legendary filmmaker David Lynch has reassured his fans that he has no plans to retire, despite revealing that he has been diagnosed with emphysema. The 78-year-old director, best known for his surreal and dreamlike works, confirmed the diagnosis in a social media post on Monday.
In the post, Lynch wrote: "I am filled with happiness. I have emphysema. I will not retire. I will continue to make films."
Emphysema is a chronic lung condition that causes shortness of breath and coughing. It is often caused by smoking, but can also be caused by other factors, such as exposure to air pollution or genetics.
Despite his diagnosis, Lynch said he is "feeling great" and is "looking forward to the future." He added that he is "grateful for the support of my fans and friends."
