Computer Vision: AI to See
A Computational Approach
By Pedro Aguiar
The ultimate goal of my research is to make computers extract high level content from images. This is a challenging task, as images are inherently ambiguous and can be interpreted in many different ways. However, by using a computational approach, we can develop algorithms that can learn to identify and interpret the objects and scenes in images.
I have been working on this problem for over 20 years, and I have made significant progress in developing new algorithms for image understanding. My work has been published in top academic journals and conferences, and I have been awarded several patents for my inventions.
I am currently a professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Porto in Portugal. I am also the founder and director of the Institute for Systems and Robotics, a research institute that is dedicated to developing new technologies for computer vision.
I am excited about the potential of computer vision to revolutionize many different industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation. I believe that my research will help to make computers more intelligent and capable, and I am committed to continuing my work in this field.
